《Rhythm of the Rain》
The Cascades（瀑布合唱團）來自加州聖地牙哥的這支樂隊，是由擅長作曲以及吉他的主唱約翰甘莫 （John Gummoe）領軍的，他在1950年代末期結識了另外四位樂手，由於彼此十分投緣，決定共同組團。他們以類似「屋頂歌手合唱團」（The Rooftop Singers）的流暢抒情曲風，在許多私人的宴會上演出，逐漸打響名聲。有一天晚上，他們正在某家俱樂部表演的時候，有一家唱片公司的星探正好在場，立刻決定跟他們簽約。1962年底，唱片公司把他們帶到好萊塢的錄音室，幫他們錄製第一張單曲「Second Chance」，雖然並不成功，但是他們的第二張單曲，也就是「Rhythm of the Rain 」， 卻得到了爆炸性的成功，在流行榜上獲得了第三名，同時更勇奪抒情歌曲排行榜的冠軍。
只可惜，他們的運氣顯然不是很好（或許應該說是生不逢辰吧），接下來的 「Shy Girl」和「The Last Leaf」雖然也還算很受歡迎，卻無法再創同樣的高峰，加上披頭帶來的英國搖滾入侵狂潮，他們的唱片竟然被認為「太美國」而遭到了消費者的冷落，儘管他們繼續努力，卻依然改變不了過氣的命運，團員們先後打了退堂鼓，甚至連負責創作大部分歌曲的約翰甘莫也宣告退出，到了1969年，只剩下薩克斯風手還是原始的團員，當然也就更加的沒有東山再起的機會了。不過，雖然他們只有一首真正暢銷的歌曲，這首 「Rhythm of the Rain」卻成了流行音樂史上最令人難忘的經典之一，不但翻唱的人難以數計，更平均每隔幾年就要再流行一次，最近的一次是丹佛格伯（Dan Fogelberg）在1990年推出的版本。而在我國，它也被翻譯成國語歌曲「雨的旋律」，同樣也是三十多年以來始終大受歡迎。
