Halo Beyonce

【故事背景 】

西元 2552 年，地球依然存在於銀河系之中，但由於人口過剩的問題，讓地球上的居民不得不前往開拓新的殖民地。當時超光速的飛行已經成為事實，讓人們可以自由穿梭於星際之中，而地球上的聯合政府也經由聯合國太空指揮部 (the United Nations Space Command)，將轉移權力重心至新開發之殖民地區。將近百萬的地球人離開了地球，居住於太陽系中其它適合居住的星球上。Reach行星的開發，是人類殖民歷史中重要的里程碑，也因此進而發展出供百姓使用的殖民拓荒太空船艦，以及供聯合國太空指揮部 (UNSC) 軍隊使用之太空軍艦，不但拉近了與地球的距離，Reach行星區也成為科技發展以及軍事活動的中心。  

三十二年前，與外星殖民活動是不被重視的；一支軍事部隊曾經執行過勘查任務，但幾乎被消滅，只有一艘損壞嚴重的船艦返回 Reach 行星。倖存的船員敘述著外星艦隊的恐怖攻擊，可以輕易地將我方艦隊摧毀，難以抵抗的種種經歷。 

這是人類與星盟的的第一次接觸，而星盟的組成，是由許多外星種族因共同的宗教信仰聚集而成的。星盟的宗教長老認為，人類對天神有侮辱輕蔑之意，因而與人類展開戰爭，以聖戰之名來驅離地球之人類。在經歷過許許多多的大小戰役，UNSC 的海軍上將普勒斯頓?柯爾 (Preston Cole) 擬定了「柯爾草案」：任何船艦不得將星盟引至地球。當被迫撤離時，不能使用以地球為導航之撤離路線，也就是說，一旦遇到了危險攻擊而遭俘虜時，所有船艦必須啟動自毀裝置已顧全大局。在 Reach 星球上進行著一項軍事機密研究，就是創造出一系列基因強化戰士的重大新發現。斯巴達二號 (SPARTAN II) 的基因強化戰士在與星盟對戰的測試中，留下令人印象深刻的紀錄，但是卻無法扭轉戰爭的局勢。 

現存的斯巴達二號基因強化戰士被召回回到 Reach 星球以進行進一步的擴大計畫。基因強化戰士必須混入星盟的船隊之中，偵查星盟的基地所在。在執行任務的前兩天，星盟突襲並且毀滅了 Reach，也攻破了保衛地球的最後一道防線。「秋風之墩號」(the Pillar of Autumn) 載著唯一倖存的基因強化戰士逃出，並跳越至外太空之中，希望可以引起星盟的注意，將星盟引離地球。
