【詞彙講解】
1 I need some distraction or a beautiful release.
我需要散散心，或是一個美麗的解脫。

distraction 分心；分心的事物；注意力分散
eg:The children are driving me to distraction today.
今天孩子們鬧得我心煩意亂。

俗話說“只學習不玩耍，聰明孩子也變傻”，那使人分散的事物包括娛樂活動。我們記住distraction的第二個意思——娛樂；消遣。
TV can be a welcome distraction after a hard day's work.
辛苦一天之後，看電視有時是很美的逍遣。

2 Distraction的動詞是distract: vt.分散；轉移；分心；困擾。常在賓語後面接介詞from。
The film managed to distract me from these problems for a while.
這部影片分散了我的注意力，讓我暫時忘記了這些難題。

Let me be empty and weightless.
讓我體內空無一物，了無牽掛。

3 weight n. 重量；體重
less是形容詞尾碼，可以表示“無、沒有、不能。比如homeless（無家可歸的），helpless（無助的；無能的；沒用的）

歌詞中的weightless意思是“無重量的；無重力的”。
A person becomes weightless in outer space.
在外太空人變得無重量。

4 再來聯繫一個單詞：weighty adj. 重要的；重大的；有力的
Mr.White is a weighty merchant of Boston.
懷特先生是一個有影響力的波士頓商人。

5 （merchant是“商人”的意思。威尼斯商人：The Merchant of Venice）

6 wreck做動詞，表示“破壞，使失事”，歌詞中用了它的名詞：wreckage n.失事；破壞；破減；殘骸。

7 Revery: re加上very很好記，表示“空想”。歌詞中有一個相似的單詞，讀音相同，reverie
n. 幻想；沉思；幻想曲

8 如果還覺得這個單詞有點兒難記，那我們再來聯繫一個單詞：revere動詞，意思是“尊重”。
Students revere the old professor. 學生尊敬這位老教授。

9 vulture 禿鷹，貪婪的人
記法：ture結尾通常為名詞，比如picture（圖片）。字母v長得尖尖得，比較像禿鷹的嘴巴。禿鷹是胃口很大，每次都要吃到脖子都被裝滿為止。禿鷹的個性很貪婪，所以vulture通常引申為“貪婪的人”。

那個貪得無厭的人什麼事都能幹得出來。
